Philadelphia Placenta Pills was created by Amy Borrelli to bring placenta services to families in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. Amy received her B.A. in Sociology from Mills College in Oakland, CA in 1998, and moved to Southeastern Pennsylvania soon after graduation. She married her husband, Ed, in 2000, and since then has had three children - Keith in 2002, Henry in 2006, and Caroline in 2008. Her youngest two children were both born at home with Certified Professional Midwives. Soon after Henry's birth Amy began studying to be a doula and childbirth educator. In 2007, she became certified through Childbirth International as a birth doula. She attended her first birth in June 2007 and quickly realized she had found her calling. She went on to become certified as a postpartum doula and a childbirth educator through Childbirth International. In October, 2008, Amy began studying midwifery through Ancient Art Midwifery Institute and now apprentices with Sunrise Midwifery.
